Breed Standards for the Great Pyrenees

General Appearance:

Elegant, imposing and majestic.

Head:

Eyes medium sized, almond shaped, head wedge shaped, not heavy, slightly rounded crown, ears small to medium, V-shaped with rounded tips.

Tail:

Well plumed

Coat:

Weather-resistant double coat consists of a dense, wooly undercoat and a long, flat, coarse outer coat.

Color:

White or white with markings of gray, badger, reddish brown, or tan.

Size:

Male: weight 100 pounds, and height 27 – 32 inches

Female: weight 85 pounds, and height 25 – 29 inches

Temperament:

A capable and imposing guardian, devoted, calm, well-mannered and somewhat serious.
