A big, strong hound, built for a long day’s work in water, the breed must also be able to gallop on land.

A rough, double coat and large feet are essential.

Its height is 24 – 27 inches and its weight varies greatly but can be anything from 65 – 120 pounds.

This even tempered, amiable breed has a loud, baying call.  Owners should ideally be energetic but not house-proud.
