Breed Standards for the Gordon Setter

General Appearance: Sturdily built with plenty of substance and bone.

Head: Well-defined stop, low-set ears.

Coat: The shining coat is coal black in color, without rustiness but with chestnut-red markings.

Tail: Carried near horizontal, tapering.

Size: Height is 24.5 – 26 inches and weight 56 – 65 pounds.

Gait: Bold, smooth and effortless, with head carried proudly.

Temperament: Make lively, enthusiastic companions and need the company of lively people.
